Acupuncture to Stop Smoking
Acupuncture helps to decrease the physical cravings for tobacco. It also lessens the symptoms of withdrawal and has a generally sedative effect on the nervous system. Beta-endorphin, the natural hormone which causes physical relaxation and reduces sensitivity to pain, is released by the acupuncture treatment. This production of beta-endorphin is part of the physical mechanism which makes it possible for you to quit smoking.
A typical program consists of 3 treatments during the first week (when the withdrawal symptoms are the greatest) and 2 follow-up treatments during the second and third week. In order to insure long-term effectiveness of treatment, we sometimes recommend occasional follow-up visits for 2-3 months after the initial series
Weight gain is less of a problem when acupuncture is used because the acupuncture points that reduce the craving for tobacco also help to control the craving for food.
Making it through the first three weeks is crucial and is the main focus of this program. Once over this major hump, the program requires much less intervention as it becomes easier and easier to resist the temptation. Research has shown that if you can make it to the six -month mark, there is a high probability that you will not start again. For this reason, after three weeks and up to six months, minor intervention is continued.

Acupuncture and Fertility
There are many benefits of acupuncture for fertility. Acupuncture helps regulate and stabilize hormone levels and menstrual cycles. Acupuncture facilitates the production of more follicles, increases blood flow to the uterus and ovaries and thickens the endometrial lining. Acupuncture can also help reduce chances of miscarriage and prevent postpartum depression.
Not only does acupuncture assist in regulating the reproductive system, it also dserves to enhance the function of the whole body which in turn allows unlimited potential in healing. This is especially important for couples over 40 as it stimulates overall health to effect reproductive health and a reduction of biological age.
The typical treatment is generally 3 to 6 months. It generally takes up to 3 cycles to regulate hormones, cycles and ovulation. Depending on your individual case it can take up to 6 months or longer. Giving yourself 6 months to become as healthy as you can should be an enjoyable and enlightening experience. It will make your pregnancy just that much more pleasurable, and help ensure the health of you and your baby from start to finish.
Acupuncture with Invitro Fertilization
In a study by Stener-Victorin from the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology Fertility Centre, Scandinavia and University of Gothenburg, women are encouraged to receive acupuncture treatments pre and post embryo transfer. Clinical observations from the Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness suggest that the most effective fertility treatments involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and traditional medical interventions. However, conception does sometimes occur when acupuncture and herbal medicines are used without traditional medical interventions.
It is better to do more acupuncture than less. Patients are commonly treated for three to four months before an insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor-egg transfer. This period of treatment seems to have a therapeutic effect.
Typically, most miscarriages occur within the first three months of pregnancy. Therefore, treatment of patients may often last through week twelve to help prevent miscarriage.
